Warner opens video library to YouTube

From MSNBC:

Warner opens video library to YouTube

Warner Music has agreed to make its library of music videos available to YouTube, marking the first time that an established record company has agreed to make its content library available to the user-generated media company.

Under the agreement, YouTube users will have full access to videos from Warner artists. They will also be permitted incorporate material from those videos into their own clips, which are then uploaded to YouTube. Warner and YouTube will share advertising revenue sold in connection with the video content.

Edgar Bronfman, Jr, Warner’s CEO has this to say – “Consumer-empowering destinations like YouTube have created a two-way dialogue that will transform entertainment and media forever”.

Well there you go – A mainstream player decides to acknowledge that sharing on the internet is here to stay. I mean, after all, wasn’t the whole purpose of the music video for promotion and exposure.

Although, some naysayer’s may disagree, YouTube might have a future after all.

YouTube has a future, for sure. It might be a little different, but you can’t predict it’s decline. Well not yet anyway.

It’s got a place, I can’t see it disappearing in the near future.

I really hope YouTube continues, without too much interference. That may be wishful thinking though.
